Driskill Honored as Woman of Excellence
It takes more than being successful in your career to become
a Woman of Excellence. Success can come from being at the
right place at the right time. But a Woman of Excellence
must define excellence through her actions – leadership,
energy, determination, vision, confidence, and more. Women’s
Enterprise magazine, IBM and the YWCA of Greater Dallas
honored Cynthia Driskill, President and CEO of CDG, as a
Woman of Excellence for 2003.
“Winning this award is a great honor because it encompasses all aspects of my
work,” Driskill said. “I’ve been blessed with the success of CDG, and it has
afforded me the opportunity to expand my involvement within the community,” she
said.
One of her accomplishments in the community was the creation of “CEOs Walk the
Walk”. As a member of the March of Dimes’ Board of Directors, Driskill wanted
a way for small businesses to make the impact of a large corporation. CEOs of
small or mid-sized companies raise money and walk together. In 2002, the first
year of “CEOs Walk the Walk,” the event raised $24,000. In 2003, the goal is
$250,000.
Other Women of Excellence this year include Rose Broussard, Frito-Lay; Vivian
Castleberry, Author; Laura Estrada, Garza Business Services, Inc.; Grace McDermott,
Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce; and Patricia Richards, Shell Oil Company.
