CDG Consultant Named President Of American Payroll Association
Lucy Key Price, CPP, Engagement Manager for CDG, was named
President of the American Payroll Association at APA's 20th
Annual Congress in San Antonio on May 14. The APA is a national
organization that supports payroll professionals with training
and networking opportunities for more than 21,000 members.
It also provides for a standard of excellence within the
payroll profession by offering Certified Payroll Professional
and Fundamental Payroll Certification programs.
Price says the focus of her one-year term will be on education. "With the rapid changes in technology and legislation, payroll professionals continue
to need more learning opportunities," she said in an interview published in the current issue of APA's PayTech magazine. "As President of the APA, my hope is to help our organization find and develop
programs that will arm payroll professionals for the challenges
in the workplace and raise business' awareness of the critical
role of payroll."
Price, who worked as a payroll professional for more than
25 years prior to joining CDG in 1989, has been instrumental
in the development and growth of the APA. She was one of
the organizers of the Houston APA Chapter and was also one
of the developers of the first Certified Payroll Professional
(CPP) exam administered in 1985. Price is the co-author of
Principles of Payroll Administration, a comprehensive payroll
reference and study guide. The guide, which is updated annually,
is in its 17th year of publication.
Cynthia Driskill, President and CEO of CDG, said Price has also been instrumental
in developing CDG's payroll system implementation and consulting practice. "Having Lucy as an Engagement Manager enhances CDG's credibility and recognition
in the payroll world," she said. "She is an invaluable member of our team, and has once again given us a reason
to be proud of her accomplishments."
