Local Business Owner Wins National Award
Cynthia Driskill, CDG, named Community Involvement Program of the Year Winner at 2005 Stevie™ Awards for Women Entrepreneurs

Cynthia Driskill, CDG, was named Community Involvement Program of the Year winner in the 2005 (2nd annual) Stevie™ Awards for Women Entrepreneurs.

The Stevie™ Awards for Women Entrepreneurs, www.stevieawards/women, is an international awards competition recognizing the accomplishments of women executives and business owners. The awards are produced by the creators of the prestigious American Business Awards, hailed as 'the business world's own Oscars' by the New York Post (April 27, 2005).

Stevie Award winners were announced in categories ranging from Best Entrepreneur, Best Executive, Best Young Entrepreneur, Best New Product and Mentor of the Year. More than 470 nominations were submitted for consideration.

Cynthia Driskill piloted the CEOs Walk the Walk program to leverage the collective power of small businesses to make a substantial contribution. Their success, raising over $250,000 for charity since 2001, proved the concept - small businesses can have a huge impact on the community when they work collectively. Driskill additionally helped navigate the team through an existence-challenging crisis and a leadership transition in 2004 and 2005. www.ceoswalkthewalk.com.

" It is difficult for business owners to find a balance when trying to contribute to the community and also maintain the operation of the business so dear to their hearts and so critical to their shareholders' pocketbooks," Cynthia Driskill states. "Yet it is possible to do so - and when done responsibly and efficiently the community and the stakeholders can benefit together much more than either could individually."

" The winners of the Stevie Awards for Women Entrepreneurs reflect the vital and inspiring role that women executives and entrepreneurs play in today's economy," said Michael Gallagher, president of The Stevie Awards. "All of this year's Finalists and winners are to be congratulated for their achievements and for their contributions to their communities."

The Stevie Awards for Women Entrepreneurs are governed by a Board of Distinguished Judges & Advisors that features many leading women entrepreneurs and figures in American business, including Carrie Fitzmaurice, publisher for Entrepreneur Media Inc.; Dr. Lisa Krinsky, chairman & president for SFBC International; and Dr. Betty Spence, president of The National Association for Female Executives.

The elegant Stevie trophy was designed by R. S. Owens, the same company that makes the Oscar and the Emmy.
