Bonjour, Richardson and North Dallas!
The YWCA Richardson held its annual Women of Achievement luncheon
Nov. 2 at the Omni Richardson Hotel.
Tallie Young was chairwoman for the event, which recognized
52 women, nominated in five categories, for their professional achievements.
The winner in the various categories were:
- Small Business: Sandra L. Thomas of Choice Home Mortgage
- Public Affairs: Dr. Margaret Fair of the Richardson Independent
School District
- High Tech: Judy Odom of Software Spectrum
- Nonprofit: Bonnie Perry for the Richardson Symphony Orchestra
- Corporate: Cynthia Driskill of CDG & Associates
Speakers at the luncheon included Carla R. Weiland, branch
director of the YWCA Richardson, and Billye Meyer, a longtime area
volunteer.
Junior League benefit
Sports broadcaster Scott Murray headlined the 35th annual
charity gala of the Junior League of Richardson on Nov. 4 at the
Omni Richardson. The gala was chaired by Danna Bowman and Heather
Brown.
Vicki White, president of the JLR, says community projects
that will benefit from the gala are the Boys and Girls Club, Don't
Wait to Vaccinate, the Down Syndrome Guild, Miss Belle's House,
the Richardson Development Center and Done in a Day.
The gala committee consisted of Amy Scott, Bonnie Mahoney,
Amy Yates, Caroline Haness, Sheri Boysen, Tobey Cleek, Tanya Mitschke,
Janet May, Kelley Ludman, Judey Dozeto and Courtney Trylovich.
Santa season
Breakfast with Santa, part of the Santa's Village activities,
will be held Dec. 9 at the Richardson Civic Center. There will be
three seatings between 9 a.m. and noon. Admission is $6 for children
