Honorable Mention Emerging Company CEO

Cynthia Driskill, CEO, CDG & Associates

Paving the way for women business owners

CARROLLTON — You won't hear too many CEOS refer to themselves as "servants," but Cynthia Driskill is not your typical CEO.

As president of CDG & Associates, a national consulting firm that provides HR technologies for payroll, personnel, benefits and student administration, Driskill characterizes herself as a servant-leader — one who enhances the personal growth of her employees while improving the quality of institutions through teamwork, community and ethical and caring behavior.

Since 1981 Driskill has guided her firm to prominence as one of the fastest-growing companies in Texas and one of the 500 largest women-owned companies in America. While its competitors are large, Big 5-type firms that provide a broad range of services, CDG has differentiated itself by focusing solely on HR systems.

"Many of our consultants have worked in senior-level positions within HR and IT departments at major organizations," Driskell said. "Not only do we provide the technical consultant, but we also provide the functional consultant who knows the issues and who has felt the clients' pains."

As director of the Women's Business Council Southwest and the 2001 recipient of its Rising Star award, Driskill is also firmly committed to expanding opportunities for the next generation of female business leaders. "I've had to put up with a lot of 'honeys' and 'sugars' in my career," she said. "It was challenging being a woman-owned business in the '80s, but there was never time to stop and dwell on it. "
