Take a look at what our members have been up to!
* Cynthia Driskill, owner of CDG & Associates recently retired
and turned the company over to her daughter, Deborah Driskill. Some of
Cynthia's community involvement includes: creating the CEOs Walk the
Walk program which has raised over a quarter million dollars since its
inception, serving as a judge for the national Entrepreneur of the Year
program, serving as a judge for the SIFE program, helping coach
nominees for the Dallas Business Ethics award program, giving her time
for speaking engagements, donating laptops to The Family Place,
donating office space, computers, and IT support to a local charity (to
the tune of more than $40,000 worth over four years!), donating cell
phones to a program that refurbishes and gives them to domestic abuse
victims so they can call 911 – the list goes on and on!
Past board memberships include WBCS and March of Dimes (including
Treasurer). CDG was featured on the CBS Early Show in August 2005 for
our policy on allowing new mothers to bring their babies to work. Under
Cynthia’s leadership, CDG participated in many WBCS events and
committees.
* Merrill Lynch was recently named “America’s Most Admired Company” of
the securities industry in Fortune magazine’s 24th annual survey of
industry champions. This acknowledgment for their social
responsibility, industry innovation, and quality of products and
services, among other criteria, is an important reflection of Merrill
Lynch values.
* WBEs, CFj Manufacturing and Pinnacle Technical Resources were
recently names on the list of the Inner City 100. This national
competition finds and ranks fast-growing companies in inner cities
across America. The program represents a unique partnership between the
Initiative for a Competitive Inner City, a national non-profit focused
on creating healthy urban economies, and Inc. magazine, the leading
publication for growing companies and entrepreneurs with a circulation
of over 2 million. The Inner City 100 celebrates and supports these
growing companies and spotlights the importance of a robust business
sector in creating healthy urban communities.
Each year, ICIC and Inc. put out a call for nominations and select
the fastest-growing from among the applicants. The winners are determined
based on revenue growth over a five-year period (2000-2004 for the 2006
list).
Additionally, Nina Vaca, Owner of Pinnacle Technical Resources was
featured on the cover of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance Magazine in May.
