CEOs Raise Big Bucks
for March of Dimes
A single clay brick has little
value. But when assembled
with many more bricks, and fortified with
mortar, the result can be a great castle or majestic cathedral.
That was the rationale behind a group of Dallas / Ft. Worth area CEOs who
joined together to collectively walk
in the 2002 WalkAmerica.

CEOs Raise
Big Bucks for March of Dimes
Cynthia
Driskill and Ed Rankin, CEOs of CDG & Associates and PeopleSolutions
respectively, have shown that small businesses can work together to
achieve big things. Preliminary results from the April 27th
March of Dimes WalkAmerica fund raiser have put CEOs Walk the Walk,
the team of small business chief executives they organized, into the
winners’ circle. Their team stands alongside teams from companies like
Bank of America and Vought Aircraft as one of the “Top 25 Dallas Teams,” a
prestigious roster of the most successful fund raisers for the March of
Dimes in the Dallas area. Their team also raised the largest amount of
walker dollars in the North Texas division.
Driskill, a
newcomer to the March of Dimes North Texas Division Board of Directors,
felt that small businesses were under-represented among the March of
Dimes’ major contributors. She and Rankin decided to change that by
inviting CEOs of companies with revenues of $3 million or more to join
together. Seventeen other CEOs accepted Driskill’s and Rankin’s challenge
and the team succeeded in raising $23,800.
Besides
CDG’s Cynthia Driskill and PeopleSolutions’ Ed Rankin, team participants
included CEOs Adrienne Beam, Insite Productions, Charlie Tusa, Tusa Office
Solutions, David Spurlin, Microwave Transmission Systems, Don Hanratty,
Optimance, Drew Clancy, Publishing Concepts, Greg Carr, Carr Law Firm,
Keela Narramore, Team Builders, Larry Burgess, Helmsman Financial
Partners, Larry King, KGA Group, Linda Crawford, Delta Dallas, Lois
Melbourne, TimeVision, Matt Fossen, Viking Capital Group, Inc., Rex
Kurzius, Resulte, Rollie Waters, Waters Consulting Group, Tom Sadler,
Executive Press, Valerie Freeman, Imprimis, and Ziggy Pflaster, Zimports
International.
This is the
first year of what Rankin says will be an annual event. “I envision this
growing larger each year and spreading to other locations around the
country,” Rankin said. Driskill added that their team’s goal for next year
is to have 250 CEOs and to raise $250 thousand.
