What our consultants say about us

To help you in your decision making about joining us, we've gathered comments from our consultants about how they like working at CDG.

Happy Anniversary!

"Whose anniversary is it?", you may be asking. Mine! As of December 13, I will have been a CDGer for one whole year. This note is a small celebration for YOU! This is the best job I've ever had and I believe everybody in our great little company plays a part in everybody else's success. And I'm convinced that even better things are coming our way! Thank you for doing your part in making my first year so amazingly great!

I just wanted to tell you now that I have never been happier in a job in my whole life! The experiences I have had in the last 4+ years have all challenged me in one area or another. I have been forced to grow in all my skills—not only professional and technical skills but also my people skills.

Each client has been memorable. In order to keep up with the assignment I have had to become certified in payroll and Access. I have had to constantly continue reviewing the vendor's documentation. I have needed to learn the basics of Unix. I have broadened my SQL knowledge. My mind has constantly been challenged to come up with new and innovative processes and procedures. To continue looking at things outside of the box. To influence people to change processes or procedures when I have no authority. I have loved acquiring the education, skills and honing. It has almost never been dull!

Each client has been unique. Each has had different expectations of me—and often not voiced expectations. I have had to be more intuitive with each situation.

The assignment with KNE and now Kinder Morgan has allowed me to do things I have never done before—like run payrolls and write conversions. I have learned Lawson HR and Payroll and regained much of my financial knowledge.

Each assignment has placed me in the right place at the right time for personal reasons. The time in Abu Dhabi was a year that I needed time to myself to meditate and grow. The year in Dallas was a wonderful time to be with my son, father and my siblings—and the last year that my father was able to travel and hold a real conversation. It also allowed me to spend more time with the Dallas cdgers. The time in Atlanta again placed me close to my son who was transferred to Augusta from Texas. The time in Denver gave me a chance to once again learn technical skills from Charles who is marvelous about sharing his wealth of knowledge. And, finally, the six months in Houston has allowed me to spend time again with my sisters and my aunts and rediscover Texas.

Thank you for the opportunity to have all of these experiences and the satisfaction of loving my job.

I am in my fourth week with the organization and keep hearing what a wonderful job I am doing. I seem to be asked by everyone I meet if I have any second thoughts about going into consulting.

I have enjoyed every minute since joining the organization! It is great to see a group of people who are willing to work with each other to meet a goal, regardless of the distance that separates them. People on this team have seemed to go out of their way to make me feel welcome, and that has made this transition very easy.

Steve keeps saying I am doing a great job. I am just following his lead and doing my best to help him reach a goal of making the client a "showcase reference for CDG." It is a great feeling when you're working through a challenging situation with a client and they say, "I am glad you [CDG] are here. I don't know how we could get through this on our own."

I have had second thoughts in other career decisions I have made in the past. This is NOT one of them. I love what I am doing, and it is great to work with a great team of professionals! Thanks for the opportunity!

I was as overcome as anyone with the stories of support during the corporate meeting and know exactly how each and every person who spoke that evening feels. Life has ups and downs for all of us, and it is a rare individual and a rarer company that provides support for whatever life brings.

My wife and I have had a longtime desire to move home to Montana. Taking the position at CDG & Associates is what allowed us to move to Billings, Montana. During our move, we drove through [location deleted] (where I had one of the other offers) and my wife was glad that we kept driving. So we are doubly happy to be part of the CDG family. I have a great work opportunity, and we have realized our desire to move home to Montana.

I have worked with several clients in a variety of situations over the past two years. At times I have had the pleasure of working with CDG colleagues, while at other times I have been the only consultant. I have worked with consultants from other firms as well as independent contractors. My experience and observation leads me to conclude that our culture of mutual support is unique and superior. We are simply the BEST. As such, it is inevitable we receive propositions at other firms and as independent contractors within and outside the HRIS field. My opinion: NO WAY! Primary among the reasons why NOT: Our people, our body of knowledge, and our tools and methodology are the best. I could never duplicate the resource and support network I have at CDG, technical, functional, and motivational, on my own or at another firm. The experience, knowledge, and support of my CDG colleagues is truly my most valuable and powerful asset in the field.

I have participated in many ESOPs. Some small and some large. However, this is the only one where I feel I can really make a difference and the only one that has made a difference for me.

I am excited and confident about my future with CDG. I think that it is unique for an entity to realize that it must constantly improve itself in order to continue to offer the highest quality to its customer. Also, I would like to commend you on the team that you have selected to be your associates.

Terry Neuman is exceptional! I was concerned that there was information that I could not ascertain through researching the company on my own. I asked a lot of questions of Terry, and she had a lot of answers. Her insight into the organization was not the normal "We started as a ten employee company to become the leader" statement. She gave me real information, and it made me feel confident that I had gained enough knowledge of the organization to make an educated decision.

I welcome the opportunity to become a new hire partner. This represents another chance for me to learn new skills as well as providing something by which to gauge my own development as a CDG consultant. There are always new challenges that go with the territory of being a CDG consultant, which is what makes this job so exciting! Thank you for having the confidence in me to offer me this opportunity.

I want to thank everyone for their e-mails, cards, thoughts, and prayers. I can't tell you how much they have meant to Bob and me during this difficult time. I have always known that working for CDG was more than just a job. This is just one more proof of that.

Return to Our Values

Suzanne King

I want to share my thoughts after being a part of CDG for one year.

First, I am amazed at how quickly this year has gone. I have always enjoyed working, but never to this degree. During the past year I have never awakened in the morning and thought how I wished I didn't have to go to work that day. Instead, the days pass so quickly that I am amazed it is time to go home at night. I feel truly fortunate to have the opportunity to spend my time employed in a field that I enjoy so very much.

Second, CDG has fulfilled every commitment, and more. I cannot say the same was true at previous employers. My past work experience includes a communications company, a major energy company, and a major health care organization. Two of the three were Fortune 500 companies.

As you know, I was interested in becoming a consultant for two reasons: (1) personal drive, and (2) a need to provide for my family. Reason #2 was tough in the beginning. I really didn't know if this new life would be fair to them. The working mom is riddled with all kinds of guilt. I am pleased to report they are all doing extremely well. My daughter is in college, and I no longer worry about her being able to continue. As for my sons, their grades are better now that I travel than when I was home (not sure what that means??).

I have friendships with other CDG employees that are closer than most I had when I worked in adjoining offices at other employers.

I can say without a doubt that I have never worked for a company that does so much for their employees as individuals. It means a great deal to me.

In summary . . . I couldn't be happier!

I want to thank the whole product group at CDG for being so supportive and responsive as I began this project. The teamwork at CDG continues to be superior, as has always been my experience. The support shown by our product group has helped me tremendously with this project. I particularly want to thank Kathleen, Linda and Rita. They have really gone the extra mile to answer questions I have about the product. Rita especially has taken the time to respond to each one of my many questions in detail, offer me samples of stored procedures, and perform quality assurance for design documents. Since her client is going into parallel now, I appreciate even more the time and effort she has put into helping me!
